July 4, 2009 - Exersaucer

Today is Independence Day. We really couldn't do much because it rained nearly all day so we spent the day indoors. Annie is getting so curious lately. We finally brought up the exersaucer from storage in the basement. She loves it! She's whizzing round and round like a pro! She's also nearly sitting on her own. We think it will happen in the next week or two.
Of course Tyler wanted his turn in the exersaucer too. We redirected him with trains and trucks. Thank goodness for Thomas videos. I think we could bribe him to do anything by playing his Thomas videos!

June 30, 2009 - Our Little Couch Potatoes

This is Tyler & Annie before bedtime. After baths we usually watch Thomas the Tank Engine and then put them both to bed at 7 p.m. (We know, we're so lucky they go to bed at the same time and so early!) Annie finally started sleeping through the night this week. She's almost 5 months old. Maybe that's not too bad but compared to Tyler, who slept through the night since birth, it seemed like an eternity.

Tyler's 2nd Birthday Party

To top off the busy weekend, on Sunday we hosted Tyler's 2nd birthday party at New Ballwin Park. The theme was construction trucks. Tyler loves trucks and I think that's what everyone will remember about the party. He scooted around this big dump truck for nearly 2 hours!
He finally took a break to say hi to his cousin Ethan.

After a BBQ lunch (thank you for grilling Uncle Jake!), it was time to break the pinata. Tyler gave it his best shot.

His friend Lexi was next. She tried hard too...

...then Dominic

...then Ethan

We thought Ben might do it - his swing looks perfect...

But finally cousin Zach finished the job!

The kids had fun picking up the candy.

After the pinata, we had birthday cake.

And then we opened presents and finally Tyler sat down and played cars with his friend Lexi. (Lexi turns 2 about 3 weeks after Tyler.) Aren't they cute!

And where was Annie during the party? She was happily being held by Grandma Schroeder...

...and Grandma & Grandpa Harness.

June 27, 2009 - MSD Picnic

We had a great time at the annual MSD picnic at Creve Coeur Lake Park. It was about 100 degrees that day so we weren't there for very long.

Here is Tyler trying out the fountains. We weren't sure how he would react since he gets scared pretty easily, but once we showed him it was water and it was cool he loved it.
Annie didn't go in the fountain but she had a good time hanging out with Daddy.

What a cutie!

Oops - maybe we should have put him in a swimsuit! It was a wet ride home.

June 26, 2009 - Tyler's 2nd Birthday

Tyler's 2nd birthday was on a Friday so after we got him home from school, we had his favorite dinner (spaghetti) and chocolate cupcakes. He loved the cupcake!

After dinner we revealed the big birthday present. He got a swingset! He loves it. It is a small hand-me-down swingset but it will do. We had a hard time getting him off it!

June 21, 2009 - Father's Day

We spent Father's Day BBQ'ing at Jen's parents' house. All of their kids and grandkids were there. Here is a picture of Grandpa Harness with Tyler, Courtney, Anneliese, Morgan and Spencer.

June 13, 2009 - Ethan's 1st Birthday/Tyler's 2nd ER visit

We celebrated cousin Ethan's birthday at his house. It was a beach theme so we all came decked out in our best beach attire. Here is a picture of Tyler, Ethan, and Grandma & Grandpa Schroeder.
We tried to get a picture of all 3 of their grandchildren and this was the best we could do. Tyler was getting antsy and Annie wasn't being cooperative. What a cute picture of Ethan!
We were having a great time but unfortunately had to miss out on most of the party. Tyler thought it would be funny to run away from Jen out onto the busy street. Jen held his arm tight so he couldn't get away while she tried to juggle Annie in one arm and him in the other. Jeff was getting everyone food at the time so Jen had both kids. It turned out that the action of Tyler turning and pulling at the same time pulled his elbow out of its socket. It's called "nursemaid's elbow". We found that out from the ER nurse. At the time we thought he was really hurt and at the same time Annie was being really crabby. Needless to say it was a fun ride to the ER, but by the time they fixed him up (which took about 2 seconds for the doctor to get his elbow back in) everyone was happy. Both kids zonked out on the way home. I know we'll look back at it and laugh some day but it was not funny at the time!

We really missed the party. We wanted to see Ethan open his presents and try birthday cake for the first time. We heard he had fun with the presents but I guess we'll have to wait until Christmas to see it for ourselves.

June 2009 - When Spaghetti Attacks

Spaghetti seems to be a reliable favorite with Tyler. He didn't have a red shirt on that day so we took off his shirt in anticipation of the event. At this point he's way too messy for a bib. Here is a picture of the aftermath.

At least he helps clean up...

...he even cleans his socks!

May 2009 - Tyler & Annie

Tyler gets a big kick out of holding Annie! We just like to take pictures of them in their pj's with feet - it's so cute!

May 2009 - Whoo Whoo Papa!

Tyler was so excited to go on a train ride with Grandma and Grandpa Harness. (Annie wasn't quite as excited but that's another story...) When we told him that we were going to ride on a train with Grandma and Grandpa he kept saying "Whoo whoo Papa!". We went on the Glencoe RR and it was a beautiful day.
We finished up with ice cream at Dairy Queen.

Anneliese liked DQ better than the train!

May 2009 - Annie at 3 Months

Here are some of the first pictures of Anneliese in the Bumbo seat. She loves to sit upright.

Here she is talking to Daddy. She is very loud (as most of us have witnessed). I think Daddy is getting an earful from her and I doubt that will ever change :)

Mother's Day 2009

We had the Harness Mother's Day celebration at Klondike Park in Defiance, Missouri. It started out a little chilly but after playing all afternoon the temperature seemed just right. Jake and Dad bbq'd and everyone else brought the sides and dessert. It was a good time with great food!

Here is Annie. She loves her bouncy seat. She was 3 months old in this picture.
Tyler was full of energy all afternoon. He pushed around his little fire engine for a long time and then played ball with Uncle Jeff.

He could do this all day!

Finally his feet were sore so he sat down with cousin Morgan and had a snack. What a day!
