Florida 2009

Jeff and I took our first vacation in about 3 years. Our last vacation was a cruise through the Bahamas in June 2006. We have been very busy since then with Tyler and Anneliese. We brought them along on this trip.

The kids were very good for both plane rides to and from St. Louis and Orlando. Both airports were very adventurous, so needless to say, we do not have any pictures going through the airport b/c it was hectic enough without trying to take pictures on top of everything. Luckily, Jen's mom & dad (Grandma and Grandpa Harness) flew with us - they really helped keep the kids entertained, especially during the 1.5 hour long wait for our minivan rental in Orlando.

We rented a condo at a resort south of St. Augustine, Florida. We stayed with Jen's parents in the condo and met up with Jen's sister's family, the Williams', who were on the last part of their Disney/beach vacation. They have a sweet RV and were staying at Bryn Mauer RV park in St. Augustine.

We stayed at the Hammock Beach Resort (http://www.hammockbeach.com/) in Palm Coast, Florida. It was a first class resort complete with 5 swimming pools, a lazy river, 2 golf courses, 7 restaurants.

The condo was a very nice surprise - it was super nice with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, awesome kitchen with granite countertops, washer/dryer and a master bath that rivaled our master bathroom at home.

The resort was first class. The place was huge. The grounds were well kept. It was definitely relaxing.

This was the "adult" pool = no kids!

This pool had a waterfall and the huge slide dumped into this pool.

This pool and the kiddie pool across the street was were we spent our time. The views were breathtaking. That is the Atlantic Ocean out beyond the pool.

The lazy river looked relaxing. We didn't get a chance to take advantage of it.

A sample of the grounds that surrounded the resort. Sunbathing area looking out at the 18th green of the Ocean Golf Course designed by Jack Nicholas.

They had a 9 hole putt putt course that was better than some of the golf courses that I have seen in St. Louis.

more putt putt!

California King Bed with a little Tyler right in the middle of it.

Tyler playing with his little sister.

Tyler making a 1-900 call on PaPa's cell phone while Annie distracts PaPa.

Jeff took this picture. Annie is in the background sound asleep in the Pack 'n' Play. And before Jeff could take the picture, Tyler had his feet in mommy's face.

RESTAURANTS

One of several restaurants that we went to. This one was called The Conch House http://www.conch-house.com/restrnt2.htm. It had these huts that were out over the water.

There was a nice breeze blowing off of the water.

Another restaurant that we went to was called The Santa Maria http://www.oldcity.com/sites/santamaria/

The novelty of this restaurant is that the kids can feed the fish from the table. See the trap door. Tyler is throwing food down to the fish. He loved it, so did the fish. The waiter kept bringing him more fish food b/c he kept using it all.

Tyler was having a blast. He got a kick out of the pirate ship that you can barely see behind him.

Annie was hamming it up with her hat. All the kids got pirate hats.

THE BEACH

The beach was named Cinnamon Beach b/c it had a cinnamon color to it. It wasn't pink and it wasn't peach, the pictures do not do it justice.

Tyler was scared of the water or the loud crashing waves. Morgan (in the background) was taking a rest.

Annie got her turn to get her feet wet.

Tyler warmed up at the beach a little, with some help from Cousin Spencer

Three generations of Harness ladies.

The family truckster
Jeff hated to get a rental minivan but this thing had everything. A remote opened and closed the tailgate and both sliding side doors. It had storage bins everywhere and stow-n-go seats that folded up and slid out of the way. Very impressive but Jeff says we are still NOT getting one.
